A forge built in Villette in the 17th century was destroyed in 1818 in the aftermath of the ice breakup on the Gietro glacier. To escape the fury of the rushing water, a new forge was built a bit higher, and can still be visited today. Cowbells were made there until 1940. In the 1980s, the Municipality of Bagnes restored this unique structure, which has been designated a historical monument. The visitor will find nearly 400 traditional objects, as well as two bucket wheels powered by the water of the neighboring stream and five furnaces. During the summer, demonstrations are given once a week.
