A forge built in Villette in the 17th century was destroyed in 1818 in the aftermath of the ice breakup on the Gietro glacier. To escape the fury of the rushing water, a new forge was built a bit higher, and can still be visited today. Cowbells were made there until 1940.
In the 1980s, the Municipality of Bagnes restored this unique structure, which has been designated a historical monument. The visitor will find nearly 400 traditional objects, as well as two bucket wheels powered by the water of the neighboring stream and five furnaces.
During the summer, demonstrations are given once a week.

Open from July 4th to August 23rd, every Wednesday from 14h00 to 18h00 or tour by special request. The rest of the year only on request by tel.: +41 (0)79 512 72 87

- Jean-Pierre Perraudin house
Jean-Pierre Perraudin (1767-1858) was the inventor of glacier theory. He understood that glaciers once covered most of our valleys and that they then retreated little by little. When they advance, glaciers carry blocks of stone with them. It was by observing the glacial strata and the blocks deposited by glacier advances that Jean-Pierre Perraudin was able to develop his theory. Though it is widely known today, the scientific community of his day took some time to accept it.
The house where this inventor lived is now the glacier museum, which explains both life in Jean-Pierre Perraudin's time and glaciology.

Open from July 4th to August 23rd every Tuesday from 14h00 to 18h00 or tour by special request. The other days and the rest of the year, only under request by phone_ +41 27 778 12 88.

The Sarreyer mill is unusual in that it is both a mill and a sawmill. It's 3.14-metre wheel powers a mechanism that can move either the saw or the mill, and so grind wheat or press apples. Inside the building, which was restored in 1990, visitors will find an ingenious mechanism provided with an automatic shutoff system.
During the summer, demonstrations are given once a week.

Open July 4th to August 23rd, every Thursday and Sunday from 15h00 to 18h00 or tours by special request. The rest of the year only under request by tel.: +41 27 778 17 28
