Bagnes Capitale de la Raclette
Raclette party in le Châble with
stalls and various activities.
One of the largest events celebrating local produce – and especially cheese – has been held at the end of September each year since 2004: Bagnes Capitale de la Raclette.
Over two days, the village of Le Châble hosts activities and entertainment organised by the Bagnes Agritourisme association, which attract more than 15,000 foodies from all over.
The event is intended to give visitors the opportunity, over a single weekend, to sample the cheeses and raclettes produced here in the Val de Bagnes, as well as throughout the district of Entremont – whether made in local dairies or on mountain pastures.
Each year, a wine-growing commune from Valais and a cheese producer with a protected designation of origin (AOP) are also invited to take part in the festival and showcase their products.
On Sunday, spectators can admire the parade of “queens” (both horned and dairy cattle) from the different mountain pastures, accompanied by Bagnes’ very own folk dance group, as well as various floats and orchestras.
