You’ll notice the village of Sarreyer from afar. Perched on a sunny hillside on the right side of the Upper Val de Bagnes valley, the village’s authentic mazot huts are home to a wealth of secrets passed down from generation to generation. This event offers you the chance to step inside and discover a few for yourself.

Your exploration of the village begins at its traditional communal oven, where you’ll embark on the “Bread Trail”, an educational trail that retraces the various steps in the bread-making process. You’ll discover the ingenuity the village’s residents showed when they built their mill, which features a three-in-one system that is unique in Val de Bagnes.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite by talking about food all morning, you can enjoy a delicious meal made from regional products in the friendly atmosphere of the Café du Mont-Fort.

In the afternoon, a keen horticulturalist will give you a tour of her secret garden and teach you a little about the properties and uses of its plants. It’s a final flourish worthy of this day spent discovering the traditions of Upper Val de Bagnes.
