  • The former forge of the Oreiller family is located on the banks of the Verbier stream.

  • Parts of this former forge are still in operation, including two bucket wheels that ventilate five furnaces, a huge drop hammer and drill presses.

    Guided by the caretaker Philippe Corthay, himself a metal craftsman, visitors enter a place that has been kept intact and features an impressive collection of over 400 machines and tools, many of which were made by blacksmiths.

    The Forge Oreiller was known for the high quality of its cow bells. Far from being just showpieces, they enable farmers to find lost animals and, in a hierarchical herd, they indicate which cow is grazing where.
