This ecological compensation measure was requested in response to the raising of the dam by 13.5m (between 1989 and 1991). The aim was to help maintain natural environments and restore the role they played. The interventions had a positive impact: various types of orchids and other species repopulated the area and flourished there. The bodies of water provide favourable conditions for amphibians and dragonflies to reproduce in. The site’s healthy biodiversity is evidenced by the fact that around thirty species of butterfly have been observed there.
The renatured space is also home to an educational trail on the topic of rocks and geology.
Notable species: Love-restoring stonecrop (sedum anacampseros), alpine newt (ichthyosaura alpestris)
