Challenge yourself

Your two loves? Sport and nature! Your heart seesaws between a sealskin hike or skiing the largest ski area in Switzerland. But why choose? The chances to improve your sporting prowess here are endless.

Sport is part of your DNA. It’s impossible to skip a day without practising your favourite activities: cycling, running, ski touring or climbing. You can’t help it! You have an itch and it needs scratching. You need to move, and ideally outdoors! Sitting still doesn’t come naturally to you! Your holidays have to be active: your alarm goes off early so you can make the most of every hour of the day and the added bonus is the chance to sharpen your technique. Verbier with all its facets provides an amazing infinite playground!

Your ideal day starts at 5 am. It’s a pleasure to wake up early and see the sun rise above the snow-capped peaks. You meet your fellow travellers and tourist guide, put on your seal skins and off you go, in single file, for a majestic ascent: all while the white giants are still asleep. Combining your effort with your love for the great outdoors, you quickly warm up. After a few hours of intense exercise punctuated by short but welcome breaks, you finally arrive at the top. Your well-deserved reward is two-fold: a breathtaking view of the alpine panorama that lights up gradually under the emerging sun but even better, a marked off-piste descent staggering in every way!

But, you also like a bit of variety. After this sealskin outing, there’s nothing like setting yourself the new challenge of exploring the vast Verbier 4 Vallées ski area during the day. Once again, there’s no time for a lie-in! You’ll be among the first skiers to leave your tracks on the newly pisted runs. What a privilege! Then will you be the last one up the Mont Fort chairlift, just to find yourself alone at the top of the slopes before they close? And so you get the chance to ski a giant slalom back to the resort?

If the weather doesn’t go your way, there’s no need to slow down. You can continue the fun at the sports centre – just the once won’t hurt – by climbing the indoor wall or challenging your best friends to a fast-paced game of squash.

In Verbier, anything’s possible. You can plan your sports activities from day to day, depending on what you fancy and the conditions. And after a good workout comes a cooldown obviously! Various restaurants both on the slopes as well as in the resort will help you get back on your feet. Aching muscles? A spa session should do the trick!
