AN IRRIGATION CANAL
Irrigation canals were constructed to ensure water was available in the fields to provide sufficient feed for the animals. Some of these constructions are spectacular and hang from steep cliffs. At the beginning of the XXth century, there were at least 200 manmade irrigation canals covering a distance of some 1800 km.
