Our ambassadors love their region and are keen to share their passion with others. Xavier de le Rue is a quadruple snowboard cross world champion and a three-time winner of the Freeride World Tour, but he also has a number of other strings to his bow, including mountain biking and surfing. He’s now looking to share his love of climbing with you at a truly exceptional location.

Culminating at 2,473 metres in altitude and offering a 360° view over Verbier, Val de Bagnes, La Tzoumaz, the Rhône Valley, the Combins massif and Mont Blanc, the Pierre Avoi mountain is a firm favourite among hikers and climbing fans alike.

Your day will begin around 900 metres below at the Chalet d’Adrien, where you’ll take a cable car up to Savoleyres. Once there, you’ll begin a roughly one-hour hike along the ridge that is something of a highlight in itself, offering spectacular views on both sides.

When you reach the foot of the Pierre Avoi, you have two choices: a beginner’s route or a more advanced one. Whichever you choose, Xavier will be there to guide you and share his advice and experience.

At the beginning of the afternoon, the group will make the short walk back to the cable car building in Savoleyres, and from there, you’ll head back down to Verbier. With Xavier’s advice still fresh in your mind, you’ll no doubt be impatient to put it into practice on your next climbing excursion.
