Drawing its inspiration from running races in the style of the Meuh Day or similar ‘muddy race’ events, the guiding principle behind the Infernale race is that the fun and enjoyment of taking part should count for more than how well you do or what place you finish in. Drawing its inspiration from running races in the style of the Meuh Day or similar ‘muddy race’ events, the guiding principle behind the Infernale race is that the fun and enjoyment of taking part should count for more than how well you do or what place you finish in. This is a UNIQUE event of its type, not just in the Canton of Valais, but in the whole of Switzerland. The idea is to enable everyone to display their team spirit and fair play, and, above all, to throw down the challenge to their friends on a fun-packed obstacle course.
The start will be a grouped one, with 2 to 3 teams going off at the same time. Competitors have to try to break free from this small pack of teams over flat ground roughly 100m long, carrying their skis. They then have to tackle the various challenges, with the odd obstacle placed strategically in their way to make their progress more complicated. Fun, fair play and enjoyment are the key ingredients needed to make this race an unforgettable experience.
When it comes to the real party atmosphere, well that will be found down in the village. Lively music will be beating out the rhythms throughout the day, when you will get the chance to taste some local produce and enjoy a glass or two with your friends.
As every year, the Infernale race organisers will donate part of the profits to a chosen local charity. The nominated charity for this year is Verbier4All.
