Integrale Du Rogneux Portage @ Gerard Berthoud

Intégrale du Rogneux

The Intégrale du Rogneux is a ski mountaineering race run in teams of two, open to all levels — from recreational hikers and enthusiasts to elite competitors.

The Ski Club Grand-Combin organises the Intégrale du Rogneux, held every two years in Lourtier. This iconic regional race has existed since 2009 and features in the ski mountaineering calendar in alternation with the famous Patrouille des Glaciers.

Race format — A course that puts recreational participants first
The race links the village of Lourtier to the summit of the Rogneux via the Cabane Brunet. Participants then descend back to the village to cross the finish line (2,000 m climb / 2,000 m descent). Route B (recreational, junior and cadet participants) follows the same course as far as the Cabane Brunet (1,000 m / 1,000 m). A Children’s Route with start and finish in the village rounds out the race programme.

The Intégrale du Rogneux is an atypical race that stands out from the rest of the season’s calendar. The organising committee is committed to preserving the classic character of a mountain race — a long climb followed by a long descent — keeping the event accessible to all. On the technical side, a ski-carrying section on the final climb leads to the summit of the Rogneux at 3,083 m. This format also attracts a strong field of elite athletes who turn out in numbers each year.

The team behind the Intégrale du Rogneux

The Intégrale du Rogneux would be nothing without the contribution of around 150 volunteers who work on race day — from the race office to on-course refreshment stations and the event kitchens. Course preparation alone requires around 200 hours of work, with a crew of 20 people to mark and signpost the route. A team of 5 mountain guides handles safety on the course, while 5 doctors and 3 first-aiders cover the medical side, stationed at strategic points along the route to intervene whenever needed.
