An area home to the largest number of butterfly species in Switzerland.
During a study on ecological values and landscapes, this area was recognised as being one of Switzerland’s richest areas in terms of butterfly species, home to around 80 listed species within a onesquare-kilometre radius. This richness is the result of the quality and diversity of the area’s habitats, such as scree, waterways and bushes, which offer particularly favourable conditions for butterflies to flourish in.
