Patrouille des Jeunes in Verbier: a thrilling ski-mountaineering race for 10–20 year-olds! Choose from three varied courses for all levels, race in teams of two, and enjoy guaranteed fun, adrenaline and team spirit on 17 April 2026 across the Verbier 4Vallées!
Looking for an unforgettable sporting adventure in the mountains? The Patrouille des Jeunes is the perfect ski-mountaineering race for 10–20-year-olds, offering challenge, fun and team spirit in a stunning alpine setting.
The courses are suitable for all levels and run between Les Ruinettes, La Chaux and the foot of the legendary Bec des Rosses, giving young athletes a unique experience on the Verbier 4Vallées ski area. The race is completed in teams of two, in mixed, female or male categories, with the route determined by the oldest participant’s year of birth:
- Long course (U18: 2008-2009 / U20: 2006-2007): +800 m / -1,466 m
- Short course (U16: 2010-2016): +620 m / -1,286 m
- Discovery course (2006-2016): +280 m / -940 m
This year, the PDJ again forms part of the Swiss Youth Team Championship organised by the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC).
To get ready, young participants can take part in winter events such as Kids Pellissier Sport outings, the Grand Prix Pellissier Sport Kids, the Swiss/Youth Skimo Cup, or Saturday training sessions with Mountain Performance on the Verbier 4Vallées area. Partner sports shops also offer special rates for ski-mountaineering equipment, so everyone can take part under ideal conditions.
The race starts at Les Ruinettes (2,200 m), accessible by lifts, and finishes at La Place Blanche in Verbier, with music and a lively atmosphere. After the race, participants are invited to the tent at the Périn car park for food and the prize ceremony in a friendly setting.
Interested young athletes are encouraged to check with their school, which manages some of the registrations, to avoid double booking online and through the school. The State of Valais also grants a special day off for participants.
