FAQ

For all partners
Customer reviews
  • I’ve noticed that some partner files have reviews. How does this work?

Verbier Tourisme is currently testing the distribution of customer reviews via Fairguest. At this stage, we are sharing reviews for hotels and restaurants located at altitude. This includes reviews across 20 different channels, such as Google, TripAdvisor, Hotels.com, Booking.com, and more.

To qualify for Fairguest, a minimum of 10 reviews from the past three years is required to ensure a sufficient e-reputation.

For more information, please don’t hesitate to contact us at promotion@verbiertourisme.ch.

For hosts
  • How is availability of accommodation advertised on verbier.ch?

Verbier Tourisme is collaborating with OpenBooking, a meta-search engine developed together with AGIV and local hoteliers.

OpenBooking collects listings from the platforms where you publish your property and displays them directly on verbier.ch. This gives your property more visibility while customers are seamlessly redirected to your own booking platform to complete their reservation.

It’s a simple way to increase your online reach and attract more guests without changing your current booking setup.

  • Are customers redirected to Booking.com, or do they go directly to my website?

We understand that it can be difficult not to be present on the Booking.com reservation platform, but the aim of Verbier Tourisme is to encourage visitors to be redirected to our partners’ own websites rather than Booking.com.

This is why OpenBooking has direct connections with certain reservation systems (Seekda, CITI, Avantio), allowing it to fetch prices and availability in real time from your website and display them on verbier.ch.

When a traveller clicks on your offer, they are instantly redirected to your website. If you use another PMS (reservation system), OpenBooking can:

    1. Contact your reservation system to explore direct connection possibilities.
    2. Or set up a “dynamic redirection” system. OpenBooking will continue to retrieve price and availability information from Booking.com and display it on verbier.ch. Using a so-called “deeplink,” customers who click on your offer will be redirected directly to your reservation system instead of Booking.com. If a supplement (e.g., 5%) is applied to the Booking.com rates, it will be taken into account so that the prices displayed on verbier.ch match those on your site.                                                            Although this may seem complex at first, rest assured that we are here to support you every step of the way.
  • Can I access statistics on the visibility of my accommodation on verbier.ch?

Of course, OpenBooking allows Verbier Tourisme to analyze a range of data specific to your establishment, such as the number of clicks on your offers or the average and total value of shopping baskets over a given period.

We are also working on developing new tools that will enable us to go even further in analyzing data and gain a deeper understanding of our travellers’ search behaviour. Stay tuned!

  • Which system should I use to declare my tourist taxes?

Deskline WebClient (Feratel) is used to create an Electronic Arrival Bulletin (EAB), allowing you to collect the personal details of each guest staying at your establishment. This is a legal requirement for accommodation providers and is also used to report guests to Verbier Tourisme for the purpose of invoicing tourist tax. The EAB fully replaces the paper version of the arrival booklet.

  • Why is it important to provide the nationality, date of birth, and place of residence of each guest?

You’re probably wondering why we’re asking for all this data, which may seem confidential at first glance. There are two main reasons:

    1. ⚖️ Legal requirement : Accommodation providers are obliged to declare the number of overnight stays recorded at their establishment each month. This is governed by the 1996 Cantonal Law on Tourism, the 2014 Ordinance on the Law on Tourism, and the municipal by-law on tourist taxes.
    2. 📊 Statistics and analysis : Collecting data such as the nationality, date of birth, and place of residence of visitors provides valuable insights for guiding our promotional actions for Verbier-Val de Bagnes as a destination. Reliable statistics are also essential for management and decision-makers, as well as for our partners, to gain a better understanding of visitor trends. Are most visitors Swiss? What is the impact of Brexit? Is there growth in the Scandinavian market? Analysing this data allows us to provide our partners with relevant information and actionable insights to support your marketing efforts, should you wish to use them.
  • Is it possible to automate the entry of EABs from the host’s system?

Yes, direct connections are possible between your reservation system and Feratel. A direct connection simplifies the process of declaring overnight stays and eliminates the need for double data entry in both your reservation system and Deskline WebClient (Feratel).

Here is a list of PMS (reservation systems) that already have an existing interface: https: //interfaces.deskline.net/index.php?index=30

Can’t find your system on the list? You have two options:

    1. The support contact for your reservation system can find out how to connect to Feratel here: https: //feratel.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/37/group/139
    2. If your reservation system cannot connect directly to Feratel, we can offer an alternative via the Friva/Mysimpleclient system (currently used by Hotel W Verbier). This solution acts as a “bridge” between your reservation system and Feratel: it exports the data required for tourist taxes and transfers it to Feratel. https: //www.friva.at/
  • On which system can I create a VIP Pass, and how do I send it?

The VIP Pass is created using Feratel’s CardSystem (the EAB and VIP Pass creation systems are linked). We recommend sending the mobile version of the VIP Pass for the following two reasons:

    1. 📱Convenience: The VIP Pass is easily accessible on the traveller’s smartphone at any time, with no risk of loss.
    2. ♻️ Commitment to sustainability: By reducing the use of paper and ink, we contribute to protecting the environment.

If some travellers still require a paper version, you can print the VIP Pass by selecting the relevant pass under “Cards to Produce” and then clicking “Print Selected.” Follow the step-by-step instructions in our tutorial.

  • I am a private renter in Verbier-Val de Bagnes. Why isn’t my apartment or chalet appearing in the search results?

The Openbooking search tool was developed in collaboration with AGIV and the hoteliers of the Verbier-Val de Bagnes destination. For this reason, only the reservation systems of these hoteliers currently have an interface with OpenBooking.

However, we would be delighted to add your property to the list of private rentals available to travellers on our site if you meet the following criteria:

Rental requirement: You rent out your property for at least 14 nights to tourists.

Declaration requirement: You declare these nights to our administrative department and collect the tourist tax from your guests.

Tourist promotion tax: You pay the tourist promotion tax for private rentals. This tax is collected by the Commune of Val de Bagnes based on the size of your accommodation (see p.7 of the tourist promotion tax regulations).

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at partenaires@verbiertourisme.ch.

🧑‍💼 If you would still like your property to appear in the availability results on verbier.ch, we invite you to work with a rental agency that is a member of AGIV.
