The creation of the Association of Friends of the Verbier Festival goes back more than a quarter of a century. In 1993, a small circle of passionate and philanthropic music-loving friends gathered around Martin T:son Engstroem, founder of the Verbier Festival, who had this crazy idea: to create a two-week classical music festival in the heart of the Valais Alps.

If Martin Engstroem has been living his "daydream" ever since, it is thanks to his Friends who, inspired and convinced by his artistic vision, have mobilised themselves over the years to help the Festival take off through their generous donations and personal investment. The vital role of the Friends and their unwavering support for educational programmes and major artistic projects has paid off: the Verbier Festival has become one of the most eagerly awaited international classical music events of the 21st century.
