Less than one hundred thousand years ago, the glaciers of the Upper Val de Bagnes transported massive rocks such as gneiss and prasinite. Known as erratics, these large stones shape the landscape we see today. Some of these rocks have human-made depressions etched into the upper surface. These are called cup-and-ring stones.
