Situated at an altitude of some 2,100 metres, about a 3-hour walk from the village of Lourtier, Cabane Brunet is open from the beginning of December to the end of April and again from the beginning of June to the beginning of October.

During the summer months, the hut is accessible by car and is the ideal starting point for exploring the area. With his huge smile, Jean-Marc Corthay will welcome you on your arrival. The current caretaker is particularly keen to make your stay at the Cabane Brunet a truly memorable one. He will be happy to go into the kitchen and prepare you some local specialities for which he has the secret recipes, or tell you everything he knows about the surrounding mountains, their fauna and flora....

This cosy, traditional refuge also provides overnight accommodation in a dormitory, and includes dinner and breakfast.
A short history :
The Marcel Brunet hut, its full name, was originally built in 1930 and honours the memory of the former president of the Geneva Mountain Federation, who died in an avalanche in 1928. The hut too was swept away by an avalanche in 1937 and was rebuilt in 1942 on the alpine pasture Sery.
