What adventures will you choose to have today?
WINTER
The villages around Vollèges and the tranquil Mont Chemin overlooking them form a peaceful haven where nature and local produce are king. What a pleasure it is to put on your snowshoes and set off to discover the enchanting landscapes on the heights of Vollèges, Vens, Cries, le Levron, Chemin-Dessus and Etiez, where pretty trails wind between the various passes. La Crevasse, at an altitude of 1,807 metres, offers an exceptional view of L’Entremont. The Vollèges region is a warm and welcoming place, full of charm, like the village of Le Levron, enthroned on its sunny balcony overlooking the Val de Bagnes. Dreaming of sampling some local specialities? Then you’ve come to the right place! The ‘Fratze’ sausage at the Atelier des Terroirs, the beers at the Brasserie de Vollèges and the mouthwatering produce at the Etiez cheese dairy are sure to delight you.
Summer
Anchored in tradition, Vollèges and the surrounding region are the real gateway to the Val de Bagnes. Built around its five-hundred-year-old bell tower, the village of Vollèges is home to a traditional bread oven built in the early 20th century. On site, the Atelier des Terroirs brings Vollèges locals together to make specialities such as ‘Fratze’ sausage and ‘Cressin’, a local bread. Mont Chemin, situated in the region’s heights, is a forest reserve spanning 680 hectares and one of the largest wooded pastures in Europe. There are larch forests, clearings and grasslands with rich pastures for cattle. Many paths lead hikers to the alpine pastures of Col du Lein, Col du Tronc and Col des Planches or even higher, to the peak of La Crevasse, to admire a stunning view over Bagnes and L’Entremont. As well as hiking, some of the trails are popular with mountain bikers, while the winding Levron road is a delight for cyclists.
