Description
A tour of Bruson
Raccards, granaries, barns and stables: types and examples of the reuse of vernacular buildings
Speakers: Marlène Hiroz, art historian and heritage guide at CREPA, and Céline Guibat, architect at mijong
Bruson, a mountain village that was once primarily agricultural, features various types of characteristic rural buildings. These bear witness to the sensible use of local resources and the reuse of materials in line with changing agricultural practices or when buildings were repurposed.
Once driven by economic considerations, the practice of reusing materials now stems from a desire to preserve a high-quality built heritage, which forms an integral part of the village’s identity.
This tour is organised as part of the exhibition ‘Good news: Switzerland is built!’, which is being held at La ressourcerie de L’archipel in Sion until 2 December 2026.
