Discover cyanotype and create deep-blue prints using sunlight, plants and natural elements.

Join us to discover cyanotype, a photographic printing process that uses sunlight to create beautiful deep-blue images. Working with light, natural elements and simple compositions, you'll create your own prints while exploring one of the earliest photographic techniques. This workshop is designed as a gentle introduction to cyanotype. We'll guide you step by step through preparing your composition, exposing it to sunlight and developing the characteristic blue print. You'll be able to experiment with plants, flowers, found objects, transparencies and different arrangements to create your own images. We'll also introduce and experiment with other light-sensitive and plant-based image-making processes related to cyanotype, opening the workshop to unexpected results, different materials and alternative ways of creating images with light. No previous experience is needed. Our workshops are created with the intention of slowing down, consuming less and creating more : using our hands, our curiosity and the materials around us. Your 40 CHF ticket includes: - Cyanotype paper and materials - Plants, natural elements and objects for experimentation - Materials for additional experimental image-making techniques - All tools needed for exposing and developing your prints - Introduction to the cyanotype process - Step-by-step creative guidance - Your handmade experimental prints to take home - Light snacks and drinks - A calm, creative moment to experiment and meet new people You don't need to bring anything. All materials and tools will be provided. Optional: if you have pressed flowers, leaves, lace, small flat objects or other personal elements you would like to experiment with, you are welcome to bring them with you. You'll leave with an understanding of the cyanotype process, an introduction to related experimental techniques, and the knowledge needed to continue exploring image-making with light at home.
