Description
The French artist Hugues Reip presents ‘Εωσφόρος / Éosphoros’, a photographic exhibition on the completion of the Mauvoisin Dam.
On the crest of the Mauvoisin dam, 15 panels.
In the periodic table, 118 officially recognised elements.
Phosphorus, with the symbol P, has atomic number 15.
The alchemists, chemists and physicists who discovered it gave it various names relating to the intensity of the light produced by the element when it burns in the open air. Also known as Phosphoros, Eosphoros (Εωσφόρος), a figure from Greek mythology, he personifies the morning star, whilst his brother Hesperos embodies the evening star.
In a two-sided presentation, the exhibition Εωσφόρος by artist Hugues Reip unfolds, in time with the fluctuations in the dam’s water level and the flickering of a lit match, a latent world populated by hybrid forms and creatures, as if emerging from an imagination buried deep within the cave, a metaphor for our perception of the world.
In addition, Hugues Reip’s film « Fantaisie » is being screened at the Bagnes Museum.
