Guided tours of the Saint-Marc Chapel in Le Châble and the Prarreyer Chapel on the Combins Railway – Saturday 12 September 2026
Under the theme ‘At risk?’, the 2026 edition of the European Heritage Days (EHD) invites visitors to take a fresh look at built heritage.
On Saturday 12 September, there will be events in Le Châble and Prarreyer featuring a rich and varied programme.
Climb aboard the Train des Combins and step inside the Saint-Marc Chapel in Le Châble. Led by Gisèle Carron, a conservator-restorer, and Sébastien Grau, a conservator-restorer, discover the history of the site and the works still preserved there.
The tour continues with a visit to the chapel in Prarreyer. Built in 1943, it breaks with traditional styles. The experts will provide you with all the information you need to understand the creation of the fresco by the painter Albert Chavaz. For the more curious, the hall of the former primary school in Prarreyer will be displaying religious paintings currently undergoing restoration.
