This year, with the theme ‘Stories of Architecture’, European Heritage Days focuses on the built heritage that shapes our living environment and characterises our cultural identity.
Verbier, a mountain town
The development of the Verbier resort was undeniably linked to the construction of private chalets whose architectural identity reflects their integration into a historical, spatial and societal context. It also involved the establishment of public infrastructure and cultural buildings (post office, cinema, church, etc.). Even today, the resort is undergoing rapid change and is attempting to respond to the challenges of tourism and sustainability through architectural and public development projects.
On Saturday 13 September at 10 a.m., take part in a guided tour of the church in Verbier Station, led by art historian Sylvie Doriot Galofaro. At 11 a.m., join architect Andrea Bassi for a tour of Chalet Lamberti, built between 2007 and 2009.
From 2 p.m., there will be presentations of architectural and development projects for the resort at Chalet Orny. Come and discover the following four projects:
2 p.m.: Espace Orny by Carlana Mezzalira Pentimalli
2.30 p.m.: Verbier Sports Centre by Pont12 Architectes SA
3pm: Place de l'Ermitage by Pont12 Architectes SA
3.30pm: Verbier Cultural Centre by RDR Architectes
Registration until 12 September.
