Hike in the Combins massif on the theme of livestock guarding dogs.
From June to September, it is the summer grazing period for livestock. It is therefore not uncommon to encounter herds on mountain pastures, sometimes accompanied by dogs to protect them from potential predators. As a hiker or mountain biker, it is important to react appropriately and behave in a suitable manner.
Valrando, a Valais hiking association, is organising three guided hikes this summer on the theme of herd protection dogs.
The aim of these hikes? To promote harmonious coexistence between the various users and stakeholders on the mountain pastures.
From the Brunet hut, we will set off to meet Justine Jacquemard, a shepherdess on the Corbassière mountain pasture, and her dogs in order to better understand their work, their role and their character so that we can behave appropriately when we encounter them.
Technical details of the hike:
Difficulty: T3
Walking time: 4 hours 10 minutes
Distance: 11.1 km
Elevation gain: 595 metres
Elevation loss: 1,205 metres
