Discover the Mauvoisin dam and its history through a one-day guided tour.
Meet at 9 am in front of the tourist office in Verbier where a taxi will be waiting to take you to the bottom of the valley. It is also possible to leave from Le Châble or Fionnay. For visitors staying in Bonatchiesse, the timetable between the TMR buses and the taxi is arranged so that you meet at the same time in Fionnay. During the journey by vehicle, you will pass through some of the typical villages of the Bagnes Valley that have retained their charm of yesteryear, villages set in beautiful mountainous landscapes.
The first stop is in Fionnay, where many visible facilities allow the guide of the day to begin the hydroelectric history of this valley, which for a long time lived mainly on livestock and agriculture.
Once you have arrived by taxi in front of the Mauvoisin hotel, located at the foot of the dam, you start a didactic walk towards the dam. While talking about hydroelectricity, your guide will introduce you to a variety of interesting subjects related to nature, man, technology and the overall economic history of the Bagnes valley, which has seen its history metamorphosed thanks to the arrival of hydroelectricity...
This unavoidable walk, dotted with stops, leads you to the CLOUD OF THE EXIT: the entrance to a gallery of the Mauvoisin dam, the highest arch dam in Europe. For a moment, walk, feel, discover and experience the unique atmosphere inside the wall of this giant, and find answers to the many technical questions you may still have.
Picnic before or after entering the gallery.
