Lac Des Vaux En Ete @luciaharrison

Fishing

Mountains reflected on the lake’s surface. Silence by the water’s edge. This is fishing in Val de Bagnes.

In Verbier and Val de Bagnes, fishing unfolds between peaks and alpine lakes. Early mornings, cold light, a thermos in the backpack and eyes fixed on barely moving water. A simple moment. Almost outside of time.

Fishing spots

Not every lake and river is open to fishing in Val de Bagnes and La Tzoumaz, but the destination offers several fishing spots set in exceptional surroundings.

Lac de Louvie

At 2,250 metres above sea level, with emerald water, mountains all around and the Grand Combin in the background, Lac de Louvie is clearly one of the region’s most beautiful fishing spots. In the heart of a protected natural area, with ibex often nearby, the lake is full of rainbow trout and lake trout. And whether you arrive at dawn or stop for a comforting break, the Cabane de Louvie is a must. The lake can be reached in around 2 hours on foot from Fionnay or 4 hours from Verbier.
A fishing permit is required and available online.

Lac des Vaux

Surrounded by two smaller yet equally sparkling mountain lakes, Lac des Vaux welcomes anglers high above La Tzoumaz. Its crystal-clear waters are home to rainbow trout and lake trout, much to the delight of fly-fishing and grasshopper-fishing enthusiasts. Around 1h30 of walking is needed to reach the lake from Croix de Cœur.
A fishing permit is required and available online.

Gouille des Vernays

The Gouille des Vernays lies along the Dranse river at the entrance to Le Châble. As this is a private lake, rainbow trout and a few brown trout can only be fished there on weekends, from early May to late October. Easy access and fishing equipment available on site make it a perfect spot for beginners.
A fishing permit is required and sold on site.

Respecting nature

Respecting the mountains also means respecting everything that lives there. A trail, a riverbank, a quiet spot by the water: here, every action matters.
