Fionnay - Cabane FXB Panossière - Col des Otanes - Bonatchiesse - Fionnay
Please note that sheepdogs are present on this route, see below for more information.
Setting off from Fionnay, follow the route which ascends towards the FXB Panossière hut. After a steep climb, a delightful bisse irrigation canal leads you to the foot of the moraine. (In the middle of the moraine, a short round trip can be taken to cross the Passerelle de Corbassière walkway.) A second ascent takes you to the hut. From here you head towards the Col des Otanes pass, which is 300 metres higher up. A long descent down the pass awaits you on the return to Fionnay.
SHEEPDOGS - behaviour rules
There will be sheepdogs in this pasture to protect the production animals against wolf attacks. If you come across them, there are a few rules of behaviour you should know:
- Stay calm
- Don’t threaten them
- Don’t stroke them
- Move slowly
- Keep as much distance as possible from the herd
- Avoid bringing your own dog. If you do, keep your dog on a lead and inform the shepherds/shepherdesses to ensure you can cross safely.
- If you’re cycling, get off your bike.
The alpine farmers’ contact details are shown along the path. Please feel free to call them if necessary.
