Follow in the footsteps of Mont Chemin’s mining past.
Don’t be fooled into thinking that Mont Chemin has always been this peaceful! For centuries, its depths attracted miners and prospectors who came to extract iron, lead, silver, fluorite, marble and even gold. Even today, the forest still bears the subtle traces of this intense activity.
All along the Sentier des Mines, follow Kobold the mine dwarf and immerse yourself in the fascinating history of this mountain via an educational trail combining heritage, nature and geology. Amidst hidden ruins, woodland scenery and a wealth of flora and fauna, this walk allows you to discover another side of Mont Chemin.
To enhance the experience, an audio guide is available on the Izi.TRAVEL app (download recommended before setting off due to poor network coverage on site).
At the start of the trail, the Col des Planches visitor and exhibition centre showcases the natural and mineralogical treasures of Mont Chemin, as well as the route of the educational trail. It is open from April to November, daily from 9am to 6pm.
